The first is using the '@mpgn.com' address rather than the '@lists.mpgn.com'. It seems to have to go through another machine or server before it gets to where it needs to go to. The other is the program (majordomo) which they use on mpgn for our lists. Since it's free (thanks guys!) I don't plan to comment on it but in general, listproc programs seem to be faster. Support for that program can be troublesome at times so majordomo may fit their needs better. Just MHO. Of course there are many different situations but still those who have programmed reflexes react similarly in similar situations. Of course this is an asset when a team of soldiers know how their mates react in different situations but it is also a liability. At least in hand-to-hand combat someone with programmed reflexes react faster than those without but as they react always similarly to similar stimulations, their moves are easily predicted and thus countered. Now how about (black market/top secret) programmed reflex (P.R.) database chip that recognises use of P.R. and informs the user what his/her opponent is going to do next? I will comment :-) I don't know why messages posted to mpgn.com would be slower than those posted directly to lists.mpgn.com. I can account for a few seconds difference since they do go through different machines. Lists.mpgn.com processes a lot of mail and we have things setup in "queue" mode where messages are put into a processing queue and the queue is processed periodically. I need more hardware to deal with it. Currently, I'm running a backlog on the queue. If we get a net hiccup, I get a lot of defered messages and that backs the queue up. Hopefully we will get back down to a reasonalble turn around time over the next couple of days. Surely you just react? 2) That's what martial arts trains you to do - just react. If you have programmed reflexes and are operating in the environment and capacity you're designed for, there should be no excuse (bureaucratically speaking) for not accomplishing your mission. Hence, due to arrest or death, your opponent should never be able to face you a second time and should not have the chance to make use of his knowledge of your programmed reflexes. That was a crappy sentence, but I think I said what I meant to. wil *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. More like bits and pieces of how to react. The complete string of actions is completely up to you. However, you pose a cool idea. How about a combat computer or program equivalent that analyzes your opponents moves and reacts and reports common re-occurrences. It would kick immediately like PR but not supply any significant info until...say maybe 3+ rounds later? To get any real edge over somebody with this it would need to scan the opponent move for awhile. I don't know how practical that would be in skirmishes, but I could see it for military or GEO law enforcement. It could be a great help for escapees and repeat offenders to have a profile on them handy for maybe a Geo marshal to downlink.
