Perhaps in that Cetacean > double issue? > I've been working on some ideas for Cetacean material and one of the background pieces I've got under construction involves a grad student doing work for a professor at Woods Hole just before first contact (so to speak) with dolphins. It involves tapping into a dolphin "stream of consciousness" sort of thing. To get some idea of what I needed I stumbled across the idea of walking through a crowded room writing down single words from the snippets of conversation I overheard. I haven't reviewed it or polished it but the effect it produced was interesting. That's a difficult concept and I feel like I shouldn't just make it up because that wouldn't be true to our underlying effort to produce a body of work which is based in reality and real science. So I've been studying as much as I can about cetaceans in an effort to produce some plausible theories about dolphin society and thought.
