I'm glad you're please with the game thus far. It may be that the web archives are behind (Jim?), but as far as I can tell, there's been a fair amount of activity over the last couple weeks. One that ties all strings together and > shows a combat from initiation to final damage. I haven't seen Jeff respond to this, so I guess I'll have a go at it. The following example is from an ongoing BP campaign (in which I get to play, rather than GM!). Background: The PCs are under contract with Hanover Industries to find out who's been killing their execs in Second Try. They've set up a meeting (i.e., ambush) for their suspect in an isolated clearing in the surrounding rainforest. Their jumpcraft is in the middle of the clearing; Bourne is waiting outside the vehicle to meet the suspect, while Hoge is hiding inside, covering Bourne from the open side-door. Three more PCs are concealed in the treeline around the clearing. They don't actually get involved in the action, so I'll ignore them from this point on. Intro: The suspect arrives at the clearing on foot and makes his way to the jumpcraft. When he's about five meters away, Bourne tells him to "throw the money on the ground" (this was the "blackmail" type of ambush). At this point, the GM elects to send the game into action rounds. Hoge and Bourne both have Speed 70, while the suspect has Speed 98 (gulp). Round One: Bourne, Hoge, and the suspect all make their Initiative rolls. The suspect makes his by the least, so he declares his action first. The GM states that he's reaching into his jacket for something. The PCs can't tell if it's money or a gun. Anticipating that the suspect could be drawing a weapon, Bourne declares a "disarm" hand-to-hand attack. Bourne throws all 100 of his points from Martial Arts into offense, leaving him with a standing defense of 50. Likewise, Hoge--inside the jumpcraft--declares a ranged attack with his handgun. Note that both of these actions will be "held" if the suspect makes no threating moves. Round Two: The suspect is fast and resolves his action. He draws a handgun from his jacket and points it at Bourne. Round Three: The suspect declares a new action. For whatever reason, he decides not to use the gun he just pulled, moving towards Bourne at a scramble and launching a hand-to-hand attack. Like Bourne, he puts all 80 of his points from Martial Arts into offense, leaving him with a standing defense of 40. Also on Round Three, Hoge and Bourne get to resolve their actions. They make Speed challenge rolls, and Hoge goes first. He decides to put three rounds into the suspect's right shoulder, hopefully incapacitating him. Hoge has Handguns 60 and no Dexterity modifier. However, his Hanover Glock III is equipped with a targeting interlink, for a 3 level bonus, and he's firing at point blank range for a 2 level bonus. That brings his skill level up to 110. Unfortunately, the suspect is moving at a scramble pace, for a 2 level penalty, and the called shot to the shoulder has a 3 level penalty. Hoge is right back where he started, with an effective skill level of 60. Further, Hoge is taking three shots, and his second and third will have a 2 level recoil penalty, for an effective skill level of 40. Hoge hits with the first shot. There is no hit location roll, since it was a called shot. Hoge gets a 20 on the damage roll, less the suspect's -10 damage resistance modifier, for a final result of 10. This indicates a damage result of 1 for the small caliber handgun. Since the suspect is damage scale 1, this translates directly to damage level 1 to the suspect's shoulder. Referencing the damage tables, the GM determines that this is a "flesh wound" with no major effects. The suspect successfully makes his stun and trauma rolls, both with a 1 level penalty for the damage level of the wound. Next, Bourne launches his disarm attack at the suspect. Bourne has 100 points in offense and no Dexterity modifier. He suffers a 4 level penalty for the called shot to the suspect's weapon hand, for an effective skill of 60. The suspect declares a block using his standing defense of 50. Unfortunately for Bourne, the suspect wins the challenge roll and the attack is blocked. Round Four: Hoge declares that he will fire another three shots at the suspect's shoulder, and hopes for more success this time. Bourne declares another disarm attack and again allocates all 100 points to offense. Also on Round Four, the suspect chooses to cancel his previous action and declare a new one. The GM tells us that the suspect is bringing up his weapon to fire at Bourne. Uh oh. Round Five: The suspect fires three shots at Bourne. He has Handguns 70 and no Dexterity modifier. He is firing at point blank range (+2) and has a targeting interlink (+3), but the GM gives him a -2 penalty for firing a ranged weapon in hand-to-hand combat (close quarters, lots of movement, etc.). Still, that gives him an effective skill level of 100, and Bourne looks to be in trouble. Of course, the GM rolls a "00" and the suspect suffers a critical failure. The GM cuts the PCs a break and rules that the gun jams. Round Six: The GM delcares that the suspect will ignore the jammed handgun and launch another hand-to-hand attack at Bourne. Again, he puts all 80 points into offense. Also on six, Hoge fires his handgun. Once again, Hoge manages to hit with only one of three shots, but this time he scores a damage level 4 wound. Among other things, the suspect misses the "unconsciousness" roll, and it's lights out. His trauma roll is now at -5 levels for the cumulative effects of a level 1 and level 4 wound to the shoulder. He fails it, but prompt first aid keeps him alive for questioning.
