I was just wondering what Cons Biohazard will be visiting this year? There is one comin up this weekend in Toronto called Pandemonium (its annual and fairly large from what I understand) but I doubt Biohazard will be represented. Will I be seeing Blue Planet at Origins or GenCon this year? If I wanted to run a BP game at a Con, can I get support from Biohazard? Just wondering.... My question to anyone - is this the first time or the second that you have received these posts? For my part, they were sent right after they were written. Curious... Anyway, I know there have been some tecnical difficulties at our host server. The owners have been very good to us however, hosting the BP list for nothing more than the love of gaming, so I for one am willing to very patient. If this is the first time you have seen some of these messages, sorry for the delay, but the sentiment and inoformation remain valid... The data generated from this spreadsheet will be used to change the daily exchange rates for corporate scrip. In the BP universe characters would normally have access to this information via CommCore, and so, therefore, should the players. There would be no advantage to or artistic reason for posting it as resticted access. The text is pretty descriptive and specific, but I would like to clarify. CICADAs are not "worn" by cetaceans. They are instead an ROV (remotely piloted vehicle) that cetaceans use as a proxy for manual and digital applications. They follow cetaceans around like a sort of mechanical familiar. Most models are unable to leave the water, and cetaceans depend on the accessory hover drone for interaction above the surface. The cetacean power sled (UC 1) *is* actually "worn" by cetaceans. It is not however, a device that allows them to leave the water however. It is meant only to give them greater speed and range of travel. The ecology of Poseidon is a hostile one where every adaptive advantage may mean the difference between life and death. On Earth, animals have solved the challange of light sensitivity and vision in many different ways; - light sensitive eyespots on flatworms - ultraviolet sensitive compound eyes of insects - pin-hole eyes of some cephalapods - pineal light sensitivity in some reptiles - thermal pit receptors in some snakes - enhanced light sensitivity of noctural mammals Given the variety of real visual systems on Earth, and the evolutionarily demanding ecology of Poseidon, it was logical to create a visual organ system for BP animals that incorporated a number of advantages. The eyespot organs of Poseidon's species are diffentially sensitive to various visible, ultraviolet and infrared energy. They are also differentially adapted to motion detection, directed focus, wide angle observation and low light conditions. Though not all species share each of these capabilities, there are far more universal in the animals of Poseidon than they are in those on Earth. Rows of multiple eyspots not only add a decidedly alien quality (artistic bit), but they also provide both prey and predators with obvious advantages; wider/multiple fields of view, directional sensitivity, and sets of organs dedicated to sepecific tasks (motion detection, IR sensitivity, detail descrimination, etc.) Hope this clarifies some things, Jeff Barber Biohazard Games IOW, was it a careful decision or was it thought to be cool? Are the eyespots actual eyes or just 2 of them eyes and the rest markings to confuse predators? *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. It is in PDF format so you can download and print it in its original format. You will have to have Adobe Acrobat however, but there are instructions on our site describing where to find it on, and how to get it off, the web. It is also available by subscription for an annual rate of $6. Just send a check of money order to: Undercurrents Biohazard Games 2607 Eastwood Dr. #61 Columbia, MO 65202 Hope this helps... Sure. If you've got web access, you can download both issues of Undercurrents from the Biohazard website in PDF format (as well as the PDF reader), or you can send $6 US to Biohazard's business address (last page of the book) for a paper subscription. Since we make exactly $0 on every subscription, I reccomend you get them from the website. -- -Jason Werner Biohazard Games ---------------------------------------- Those who would treat politics and morality apart will never understand the one or the other. - John, Viscount Morley of Blackburn ---------------------------------------- [Part 2, Text/PLAIN 5 lines] [Unable to print this part] From yu143298@yorku.ca Mon Jan 26 13:14:06 1998 Date: Mon, 12 Jan 1998 23:57:30 -0500 (EST) From: JASON KUCHERAWY Reply-To: blue_planet@MPGN.COM To: blue_planet@MPGN.COM Subject: Re: [BLUE PLANET] - What Cons does Bihazard visit? I plan on attending Origins this year. I went to GenCon last summer (thats where I bought the game). I look forward to playing BP at Origins. I was unable to play at GenCon :-( > As far as running BP games at cons that would be much appreciated. What kind > of support are you looking for? I wasn't sure if you had modules which could be made available (like the adventure run at GenCon) or some sort of "official" materials which are not contained in Blue Planet. I guess at the very least, I would be looking for correspondance or approval of any written adventures from Biohazard to ensure continuity and accuracy. I am in no position to run a BP adventure at a Con this year, but the annual Pandemonium convention in Toronto is a possibility for next year. BTW, are there any BP players/moderators in the Toronto area? -Jason *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
