The MG mentions it in passing, but focuses on people, and I don't have my PG handy. I would imagine it would be based on a vehicle's Durability rating, but it can't find guidelines for it. This data was gathered on the Stellar Database (www.stellar-database.com) and is from 1999. Since then I found two other sources regarding this star. Both of them seem to indicate that Lambda Serpentis really is a solitary system, but a visual binary (that is, it looks like a binary system from earth because Alpha Serpentis is so close). The different values for Luminosity are no contradicition. It seems that the first source used Abs. Mag to calculate it while the second used App. Mag. Here is the data: >>>>>-----------------------------------------------<<<<< Lambda Serpentis ---------------- Right Ascension: 15.7741 hours. Declination: 7.35324 deg. Identifiers ----------- HIP: 77257 Yale: 5868 Gliese: 598 Positions --------- Distance: 38.32 l.y. XYZ: (-20.91, -31.73, 4.9) Brightness ---------- App Mag: 4.42 Abs. Mag: 4.07 Luminosity 2.05 Other Data ---------- Metallicity: 91% Spectrum: G0V Age (Gyr) 5.7 Lambda Serpentis is a moderately faint star, forming a close naked-eye double with the bright star Unukalhai (Alpha Serpentis). If you can see Unukalhai clearly from the city, try looking for Lambda nearby. Lambda Serpentis is about twice as luminous as the Sun. Aside from this, it is a closer match to the Sun than many in the Encyclopedia: it is somewhat older than the Sun, and has essentially the same metal content. Yes, there's a quiet naming policy, but probably not what you think. I'd like to title books in the "adjective-noun" format (e.g., Blue Planet, Fluid Mechanics, First Colony, Frontier Justice, etc.), but I have no particular affinity for the letter F. Field Guide and Fin are very much working titles. > BTW First Colony looks superb (half way through having got it > yesterday, would be further but the copy of 7th Sea's Die > Kreutzritter is distracting me) Glad you're happy with it so far. I have just run my first one off of Blue Planet and was quite happy with how it went (people starting to bug my to run a campaign). The focus of the one off was a hovercraft crash with the group rescued and housed at a native settlement. Things were fine until one of the outsiders found some Long John and then was murdered (and the colony rescue teams were still five days away due to lack of satellite communications here). I'm working on a more detailed access denied for it. Where would be a good place to submit this, is there anywhere? Now however I am planning a campaign. I was wondering what others are doing with campaigns, and what has been found to work (or not work?) Greg, I've just finished it and really like it. As someone else has pointed out, the adventures really flesh out a feel for Haven and the colony. At the moment, I'm torn between using Poseidon for a Traveller Rim based campaign world, or running the game with the system as printed. Depends on how well I can persuade my players. Anyway, I've really liked the supplements and quality so far. It's certainly impressed by local store - they've started to order an extra copy over the one that I have on standing order for new books, and like the way it looks on the shelf.
