It would seem -- to me -- to be a trade-off between your faithfulness to Jovian Chronicles and your faithfulness to Blue Planet. A few thoughts: 1. The wormhole and Poseidon would be discovered at the same time that the rest of the Jovian Chronicles solar system was being explored and exploited. The solar system would lose contact with Poseidon with the Fall of Earth. 2. If you wanted to keep Poseidon (as its described in BLUE PLANET) intact you'd want CEGA to come back much stronger than it does in the actual Jovian Chronicles setting -- possibly giving them the only access to the technology necessary to breach the wormhole. (This gives you the semi-totalitarian government imposing on-again/off-again martial law on Poseidon; and if you ally CEGA with Venus you can use Venus to supply the Incorporates.) 3. If you wanted to keep the Jovian Chronicles setting intact, than Poseidon would probably have to be substantially changed in order to support the more conflicted state "back home". 4. Here's a thought: Obviously the Jovian Floaters from JC have a direct analog in Long John. Recast Project Methuselah and the Odyssey into a Poseidon-focused adventure. Since the Jovian Confederation is the one closest to the wormhole, give them control over the Outer Reaches and -- by extension -- the wormhole. The Jovians take on the role of the GEO; while Venus and Earth take on the role of the Incorporates. Of course, the Edicts themselves are the biggest monster to tackle given the impact that what is Edict-violating technology has in BP's universe. I definitely would want Poseidon as-is, without seeming like it is just added into JC willy-nilly, and that means keeping the genies and other Edict-breaking tech. The clues I've seen dropped in Lightning Strike are that the Confed is responsible for the "Edicts Wars", and the Jovians are most definitely first in line for chucking the Edicts out the window (as well as the Venusians, although they may not be so overt about it as a lot of Jovians would). I think a lot of my thinking has to do with the fact that I doubt I'd have time to run Tribe 8, JC and BP...so that means combining two of them together (and a BP/T8 crossover, while potentially interesting, probably wouldn't work too well ^_^). This is the first time I've posted anything to the list in ages, been pretty lax lately. >Now however I am planning a campaign. I was wondering what others are >doing >with campaigns, and what has been found to work (or not work?) Well, I ran a campaign in which the characters went from Kingston down to Westcape, joining up with some native resistance elemnets in Perdition and eventually finding out that the situation was not quite as black and white as it first appeared. It all depends on what your players are into. The Westcape campaign primarily focussed on the characters increasing knowledge of the Westcape situation, the native struggle and the fact that not everyone who worked for Hanover was some sort of crypto-fascist. However, it was interspersed with liberal amount of action, mystery and adventure. For me, the interesting part of the game was watch the moral development of the characters over the weeks of play. They started out with a fairly monochrome vision of the world but through trial and the aquisition of knowledge, they realised that Poseidon was a far more complex place than they first thought. At the end of the campaign, one of the characters became (effectively) a pacifist, one wnet back home to work on his family kelp farm and another got a job working for Hydrospan (having previously been a devious little shit who didn't give a damn about the world). All in all, it was quite a satisfying campaign. If you would like, I've got some stuff on Westcape that I could forward to your as Word files. Happy campaigning. Mostly form my Westcape campaign and from a town I created called Camerons Reach. There's no stats, just descriptions of the people and a brief physical description. You're welcome to them though. I can send them to you in Word or Text format. Just drop me a line if you'd like them (there's about 60 NPCs in total). While the CEGA is a good first choice, they are more totalitarian (and less altruistic) than GEO is. However, the Jovians might just make a good choice. It would go something like: 1) mankind discovers wormhole 2) Poseidon colonized just as in BP (uplifted cetaceans, genies and all) 3) The Fall occurs pretty much as described, although the Blight might be introduced as part of it. This would provide a more solid rationale for the Edicts. 4) The Confed initiates Recontact. After that I would have to do a lot of hard thinking...especially the relationship between the Confed, CEGA and UN. The GEO and it's monolithic nature, as well as conflicts with the natives, Incorporate and UN is a hard thing to replace and keep the feel of Poseidon. Maybe various aspects of the GEO can be broken out into elements of the Confed, CEGA and UN that basically wind up working toward the same goals. "Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?"
