We decided to meet on Thursdays from 2p to 4p because that's when most of the kids can make it, and when a centrally-located space is available. I explained the game, the concept of rolegaming, and a lot of the background to the kids and parents. We got into a big discussion over the moral implications and scientific possibility of hybrids, with Juliana (age 13) very concerned over the fact that any such experimentation would mean a lot of stillborn babies and dead kids, as experimental failures became apparent. We talked about how that's one of the reasons hybridization research is illegal in the BP world. The rest of the group contributed side comments to the discussion. I started character gen with my son and one other kid. Liam (my kid, age 11) is playing a squid whose mother is a Poseidon native, an ocean surveyor who works for the GEO, and whose father is a spacer, a technician and inventor who came to Poseidon to pursue his research. Liam's character has the build minus of a spacer, and the general body configuration, but gills and webbed hands/feet. His character has the Native origin, but the GEO background, due to his being raised more or less on GEO installations. Montgomery (age 11) is also playing a spacer, whose parents are both Poseidon natives. He has the Native origin and background, and is working on several (I think three) siblings, to be NPCs. The general interest is wildly enthusiastic, both the kids and the parents. Geez, I hope I can pull this off. I'm told that Eli (age 10) hasn't gotten this excited about anything in years. Either this is going to be a big development in homeschooling in Rockford, or I'm going to have to relocate to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the U.S. Andrew Ragland Information Hunter/Gatherer: Explorer, Mapmaker, Guide araglan@us.ibm.com t/l 348-6665 ph (847) 240-6665 Skytel 1731111 "It is our choices ... that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." -- A. Not to mention the fact that BP, JC, and Trinity all hit the market at similar times. I was thinking of adding the three together for one big rambling game.
