The weapons designed for combat all are engineered for air, so people are left with either spearguns (woefully inadequate against most hostiles) or torp launchers (massivly overpowering and cumbersome). In between those two extremes of power, there isnıt anything at all. But now, with AKED Securitiesı latest product, you can take your handgun or rifle underwater and be assured that your weapon will work at all times. AKED proudly presents to its customers Poseidenıs first submersible ammunition. The bullets are made with a specially designed cell that propels the bullet after the normal shot. This creates a sort of unguided torpedo in the water, one that has the same range and effectiveness as regular bullets in air. The bullets have a special spin-channel design to reduce drag and increase range in the water. With this ammunition, your trusty magnum is no longer relegated to a melee weapon underwater. Now you can be as dangerous underwater as you are on land. Subersible ammunition is the ammunition of the new frontier. Donıt lt your enemies get it before you do! Order today, for in the world of prospecting, competitors want you as good as dead. Make sure you can fight back. Availability: Uncommon for AKED customers, Scarce outside, Scarce for alternate ammo types Cost: 30 cs to 250/magazine, depending on caliber Grade: 2 Use the ammunition rules found on 5.221 for costs for other weapons ********************ACCESS DENIED********************** AKED is seriously pushing its subersible ammunition. If the product takes hold, it will change the way people fight underwater, and AKED stands to make a great deal of money from that change. They hold the patent for this and several other functional designs for underwater ammunition, leaving their competitors with little choice but to buy from them. This ammo provides everything it says it does: bullets as effective underwater as normal ones are in air (for the spin-channel, think of a Nerf turbo football, with all those spirals on it. Apply them to a bullet. Voila!) Any character who reads the ad then buys them, hoping for rocket-propelled bullets in air, however, is in for a rude shock. In order to make the bullets more effective underwater, they had to increase the mass. Not only that, but the propulsion unit relies on a dense medium to move through so the spin- channels can take effect. This results in the same modifiers for underwater use of normal bullets (Range reduced to 1/10 normal, half damage except for explosive) applied to these bullets in the air. The bullets are like normal ones in other ways, as well. The bullets are non-rechargable, just like regular ones, so players canıt pick up their bullets after they shoot them and then recharge them for reusable ammo. The propellant goes until itıs gone, which means that bullets can ricochet off of rocks and hulls and keep going. You know what they say about gravy and lumpsŠ. Needless to say, this little coup de tat has not gone unnoticed. MacLeod Enforcement is not happy seeing constant developments in combat technology coming out of this backwater, country-bumpkin shack of a company, and sees AKED Securities to be a rapidly rising competitor in a business where there is little room for competition. It has tried a few times to aquire the company financially, but all attempts have failed due to GEO intervention. AKED Securities has fostered a good relationship with the GEO for just this purpose, to the extent of taking over some of MacLeodıs GEO supply contracts. Word through the kelp patch says that if MacLeod doesnıt get this company for itself, it may resort to more violent means of putting AKED out of business. Few doubt MacLeodıs ability to make good on such a promise. As such, AKED has become very close with the GEO; the CEO of AKED has been seen having lunch with Colonial Administrator John Bishop, and since AKED is not an Incorporate state, Bishop has few qualms about helping them financially undermine a large part of MacLeodıs business. Nobody doubts, though, that if the situation isnıt resolved, shots will be fired. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. This one is still a bit rough, so let me know what you think. If you have any problems, just holler. =) Planewalker AKED Bio/Com Armor Recent inquiries into fast fungus and itıs effects on bioplastic led to an engineering breakthrough. Through specially designed microbes, AKED Securities has designed a self-repairing suit of armor! Capillaries were built into a suit of specially-grown bioplastic, then molded into a suit of combat armor. When the tailored microbes are released into the suit, they feed and release special byproducts that repair the bioplastic, giving you a suit of armor thatıs always at itıs peak. Because of the microbe design, Bio/Com (short for Biological/Combat) Armor is immune to fast fungal decay, saving you nights of lost sleep wondering if you packed your armor away dry. And since repairing it only requires you to fill the microbe solution holder and press a button, it saves you time that you would normally spend repairing your armor. For your convenience, weıve given it the ability to hold up to four microbe packs at once. Just push the button and let it sit until itıs like new!* Bio/Com Armor is sold with a full compliment of four microbe solution packs. If youıre not satisfied with itıs performance, return it for a full refund. Poseidon holds many dangers. Donıt get caught with your armor broken! Order Bio/Com Armor today! *Heavy damage may take more than one packet to fully repair damage. Consult your ownerıs manual for details on how to determine total packet consumption Dimensions: .6 kg/hit location Power source: None Availability: Rare to AKED customers, Scarce outside Cost: 12,000 cs for the armor, microbe packs are 800 cs Armor Grade: 4 Protection Value:15 *****************************ACCESS DENIED********************************** Bio/Com Armor was a few years in the making. However, there were a few "good" reasons for this. First, AKED had to make sure that the microbe couldnıt cause any damage to the wearer or itıs surroundings if it were to escape. This problem was prevented two ways: by the use of a restrictive synthetic enzyme found only in the special bioplastic and by engineering it to have an extremely short life span. Not only will the microbe not survive outside the armor, but even inside the armor, it will die within a few hours. Coincidentally, this is linked to the second problem AKED had with the armor: repeat sales. Early tests utilized a microbe that was harmless, but survived indefinitely inside the armor. This led to a self-repairing armor that everyone could use indefinitely. While this was a great breakthrough, AKED could only sell so many suits before all the parties that wanted them had enough. By selling armor with limited- lifespan microbes, though, the armor becomes an excellent example of a supply- eating profit maker. Bio/Com Armor can work two different ways. The armor was designed with the idea that if the GM sees their players running their armor through hell and back without taking care of it, The GM will start wrecking their armor. (This is a big problem with D&D players‹they assume that since they bought full plate, they can march through swamps and battle and not take care of it) If you use the normal Blue Planet rules, the DM will have to decide on how the armor is damaged and when the user needs to repair the armor. Otherwise, the armor is assumed to have been damaged one level if a shot penetrates a hit location covered by the armor. After a few shots, the armor becomes fairly useless due to structural damage. The armor does indeed repair itself, but it only repairs one level of damage per microbe packet. This damage is spread out around the armor, though. For example, if a suit of Bio/Com armor has lost three levels in the chest, two in the right arm and one everywhere else, one microbe packet will reduce damage on the chest to two, one on the right arm, and bring the rest of the suit back to normal. AKED forgot to mention underwater use in their ad. This is intentional; the user needs twice as many microbe packs to fix a submerged suit. After all, the knicks and dents are exposed, and water dilutes the microbe solution, so twice as much is needed to fix it due to the water mixing in with the microbes and carrying them away before they can fix it. A nasty GM may also apply this to extremely moist environs, like swamps and anywhere during monsoon season. Finally, even the armor has itıs limits. If the armor is subjected to extreme heat and/or physical stress (gnawed on by a greater white, for example, or used as a landing pad for jumpcraft), the capillaries may get clogged or ruined, preventing any further internal repair of the armor from microbes (You could rip open the solution packs and dump it on the armor, but itıs still messier than hitting a button.) *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
