So we have 330 days on Serpentis II and we have four standard seasons if I'm correct after reading the 1st ed mainbook. We also know when the cyclonic season starts and finishes. But when the weekend starts? I mean, those miners aren't working all the time, heh heh. Is there any substitute for a terran week on Poseidon? 2. If we focus on Haven for a while, during which season the Founder's Day takes place? Spring or summer? 3. Okay the tides charts by MetWatch are messed up but they do exist. So what about lunar cycles? We have two of them on the night sky. Could you describe the details of their paths? How often there's a full moon? And how often there's a double full moon? I believe it would be quite important for the native spiritualism. 4. How exactly does human biological clock adapt to the new environment? Okay couple of sleep hours during the midday siesta helps. But what about women? Is it still 28 standard terran days between periods? 5. How does a standard holographic projector work? 6. I've been trying to figure out how advanced/primitive are the native chemistry abilities, without any computers or such. Sierra Nueva fanatics for example. They'll manage to grow food hydroponically probably but would they be able to grow bioplastic? Or make wound glue? Thanks for help, folks! I also figure that weekly media events (such as TV shows) bit the dust a long time ago as CommCore makes it easy to record multiple programs at a time, which would ruin ad rates. I figure that such programs transformed into finite series that would be released over a period of time. Popular series would make sequels. >> 2. In the table section, there is a lot of information on time zones, seasons, lunar cycles, ect... It is unofficial, but it is based on list discussions and the BP texts. >> 4. First Gen Newcomers tend to take more naps during the day as they grew up with Earth cycles, but Natives and 2nd Gen+ Newcomers have completely adjusted to the 30 hour day. They did some experiments with volunteers in caves and such. So the 30 hour day on Poseidon might not be such a problem. I agree the lunar cycles could well be impotant in Native spirituality, and certainly would have a great impact on tidal patterns. After all, they're really established in a relatively arbitrary matter (as opposed to, say, year length). **** In my game, I assume that people sleep 10 hours and are active for 30. ** 30hrs?? Gadzooks man! I can barely manage 12hrs! ;) I hope you meant 20. But even still.. *shrugs* **** First Gen Newcomers tend to take more naps during the day as they grew up with Earth cycles, but Natives and 2nd Gen+ Newcomers have completely adjusted to the 30 hour day. ** I've done some thinking on my own with regards to varying day lengths, but it's one of those questions like "What if our thumbs were on the outsides of our hands? Would it really matter much to evolution?" Of course, a lot of it also has to do with chemistry and metabolism. For instance, people with low iron levels in their bodies are frequently more tired, so that's something to look into when you consider what's in the soil, what's in the food, etc. On a similar note, people taking SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) sometimes have a tendancy towards odd sleeping patterns too. -C -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mail2Web - Check your email from the web at http://www.mail2web.com/ . *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. A cyclonic producing waves at a time during extreme high tide due to alignment and position of both moons at the same time. Smells like disaster to me. Hmm, I think it'd also be quite wild to see both moons full in the sky together, in close enough proximity to look like a figure-8. Course, what are their relative orbital angles and distances? Wouldn't want them colliding. And if one's sufficiently larger than the other, that could have some twisted gravitational freakouts which could cause the smaller moon to run off. We'd have to take a look at satellite systems for other planets with numerous moons. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mail2Web - Check your email from the web at http://www.mail2web.com/ . *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
