I always saw Greater Whites (like a lot of Poseidon life) as much more eel-like. Kind of a combination of eel/snake and a shark. There are a few nice illustrations in the books that I always took to be the bodies of Greater Whites (I think that the only labeled picture is just of the head) - kabael - Kintaro Oe - Derek the Guder - kabael@softhome.net - ICQ# 24193592 the McGuffin Group - the End Times - RPG Action - the Thirteenth Legion How much humiliation can four people and a penguin take? *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. I was musing on this and thought what if the cult duped someone else into doing the deed for them? A bunch of scientists too smart for their own good say. Just think of the research possibilities. Or an entertainment theme park, anyone remember the premise of Jaws 3? Come see the world's only captive greater white, only at Marineland! Or perhaps some rich collector who just has to have one of every type of critter for his private zoo. Of course the aquisition of a specimen would require knowing a LOT more about the natural hstory of greater whites than seems to be currently known. Like how, when and where do they reproduce. Given marine ecology the juveniles might only vaguely, if at all, resemble the adults. This crazy idea could spark a very interesting campaign, especially if the PCs can be kept in the dark about exactly why their patron is so interested in greater whites until it is too late... > > *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. Hey all, Gareth Hanrahan said: > I doubt the GEO stop and search every ship. I would think they would, if only to remind everyone who's in charge. If they don't do the search in orbit, they could always block the wormhole until they're satisfied... > Long John smuggling is really viable I imagine. I always thought that Longjohn was expensive because of the expense of hauling it all the way back to Earth. If that's the case, then smuggling wouldn't make much difference in the price. If the price is normally inflated artificially then it's a different story. > make enough money to buy illegal longevity treatments...). As was > pointed out, caneopoise hide smuggling is also a possibility. Yeah, definitely. I hadn't though of that. > Hmm...inspired vaguely by Mike Z's players and their WW2 guns, how > about crude oil smuggling? There's a campaign idea: the players work for a rich "eccentric" who wants his oil, damnit. The players go to Poseidon, establish an oil rig, and fight off claim jumpers and ecoterrorists...
