I'm still in school, and in my class of 89, there are four hard-core gamers and myself. So...this morning I brought four envelopes addressed to the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design, already stamped and filled with a blank Origins Awards ballot. Now, I never tried to "encourage" anyone to vote for one group/product/whatever over another one, but I did bring to their attention entry #2 under "Best Role Playing Game." This way, all they've got to do is fill out the ballot, lick the envelope, and drop it in the mail. 4 quick votes we wouldn't otherwise have had. You've got about a month folks. How many people are in your gaming group that wouldn't otherwise vote on their own? Then again, I'm not a coventioneer. The Game Moderator Screen tends to be useful if the company that sells the game makes a screen that is useful. Goddess knows, there have been some screens for game systems that have been downright wastes of paper, to be honest. Frankly, BLUE PLANET could use a screen with some of the main charts for combat, a character generation summary, and some other tables and the like. I don't like to constantly have to rifle through my rulesbook looking for the tables and stuff (although I got smart and copied out the pages of the book that had certain tables that are needed quickly), since it eventually tatters the book, and a GM screen is useful for this. ... There are the two mini-adventures that have been published in Undercurrents, but a sample adventure posted on Biohazard's website wouldn't be too bad. I don't know whether I agree with you about the adventures being a "wasted space" in such a book, although the BLUE PLANET rulesbook is large enough as is. But the environment and setting of the game is so diverse that an introductory adventure would have been useful for gamers who really might not know where to start. Glad to hear it. :) Actually, the Access Denied sections *are* very full of hooks and the like, but I think that an intro adventure would have been good for another reason - it would have given GMs a bit of a "feel" for the world of BLUE PLANET and describing it to your players. The two Undercurrents adventures were very good for this, I have to say. >3. I've run both adventures from Undercurrents as they are, with a few twists and turns of my own, and both adventures have been received quite well. I've run "Jenny M." more than once, and have run it with a couple of variants both times (different variants, of course), and am thinking of running this one as a demo at my sf and fantasy bookstore.
