Agreed. The supplements are dropping hints, but the closest I've seen to a non-Pacifica population centres guide is the list of marshals in Frontier Justice. I don't have the books to hand, but I recall some islands had 2 marshals, where in other places an entire chain only had one. This would certainly point to the former island having a notable population, and the chain been sparsely populated. Andrew ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? As some of you have pointed out, all the "backwater" regions are far less populated than the Pacifica Archipelago; but, as some of you did also point out, this doesn't mean they're totally uninhabited. ;-) Also, natives, GEO, and Incorporates may be few and far between, but aren't you forgetting one of the protagonists here? Mmmmh? Yes, the aborigines... As far as the potential of these areas for regional sourcebooks, I like the suggestion of David Crowell; maybe only one book would suffice, gathering glimpses of all those remote regions. This way, we would have some insight into what's there and how it's there, and there'd still be a lot of room for personal creativity. At the present time, the vacuum that are those areas make me shy away from them (don't want something I wrote to be invalidated later by an official supplement). Good idea, Dave. I'm happy to contribute, but my (limited) knowledge is of the South African subtropical surf culture, so we'd want some islander input. Dom? After much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth, here's what I've discovered from the main books: 001.0 - Jan 3, 2087 (per list agreement) [many] 094.33 - Aug 7, 2124 - Mt Odysseus erupts [MG 45] This date works if you have 413.2 days in a year. Otherwise, you end up with 076.33 163.70 - Recontact (July of 2165) [PG] If I don't adjust for 30 hour days AND don't add for the year, 7/6/2165 comes out to 163.69 Since 163.70 is so prevalant, I suggest changing the "earth date" to 10/3/2166. 213.99 - Aug 7, 2199 - Undercurrents #1 Adjusting this date for 413.2 gives 173.99, which is also quite a ways off. I'm putting these dates on my "timeline" page for the PBEM (player's and lurkers welcome!). Since the main location will be Lebensraum, I also added these dates: 133.13 - Mar 3, 2102 - Hanover signs 99 year lease 001.94 - May 8, 2193 - Lebensraum founded 300.100 - Mar 2, 2201 - Hanover's lease expires I'll be posting Episode 2 later this evening. --Thom http://www.arcathia.com/lebensraum PS OK, is August 7th somebody's birthday? *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. Hehehe. I wonder if the authors came up with a time calculating program or not. I keep meaning to, but have been spending the past 7 days installing a new OS on my machine and updating it. > PS OK, is August 7th somebody's birthday? Did you take that into account? Yep, I was showing that the stated conversion works if you make the obvious math error. Alternately, you could change the earth date to fix it and keep the "Poseidon date" the same - the new earth date of the eruption would be: Aug 30, 2124. I am ignoring the "time factor" in these equations - there are NO real time communications with earth to worry about. As far as "partial days" I am sure that some combination of years will require a "leap day" but I will leave that as an exercise for the student (snicker). --Thom *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
