I have recently been the target of a rather nasty stalking/harrassment crime (which is currently being investigated by the London Metropolitan Police Major Crimes Unit. And it appears that the stalker might have aquired my email address from the online archives such as the one here: http://www.biohazardgames.com/board/02-23-01.txt The archives are a great resource - but you might want to consider removing/obfuscating people's email addresses, as many people may not be aware (myself included) that they are on public display. It is fairly easy to do and I would be happy to help make that happen (as I am sure would many others on this great list). Thanks, Gobion *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. From: Eric Franklin [game.thyme@verizon.net] Sent: Monday, June 04, 2001 8:12 PM To: blue_planet@lists.ient.com Subject: [BLUE PLANET] - SG-1 Mods for Synergy Well, I'm a huge fan of the Synergy system, and an even bigger fan of the Stargate SG-1 TV show. On one of the message boards I frequently read (http://www.trekrpg.net), there was a discussion about SG-1 and its suitability as an RPG. That said, I looked long and hard at all the RPG systems that I play and enjoy -- a lot of 'em -- and looked for a system that wouldn't require too much tweaking. It struck me that BPv2 had exactly what I was after. Tech-wise, I just need to screen out all the Cyber and Bio mods -- And hybrid races (and cetaceans). I figure the staff weapon would have a damage of 9 or 10 (It's pretty deadly in combat), and the Zat (?) guns would be -very- simple -- First hit: KO'd until dramatically appropriate, 2nd hit: Dead, 3rd hit Vaporized -- If you can hit, no rolls necessary. I also spent my lunch looking over skill packages. This is based on a HUMAN game -- No Jafa (like Teal'c, for example) or other aliens (yet -- maybe later): Here are the changes I suggest in the way of Skill Packages, submitted for comments: GENERAL CHANGES: These reflect the differences between BP (where water is very important) and a Stargate setting, and should apply to -all- packages, except where otherwise noted: 1) Allow any Aquatics skills to be changed to "ANY ATHLETIC" Skill 2) Allow any Aquaculture skill to be changed to "ANY AGRICULTURE" Skill. The same goes for Hydroponics. There are a few packages (most notably Colonization Expert under the Career Packages) that this might not work for, because they have ALL of the Agricultural Skills in the package. For these packages, I recommend allowing the following subsitutions (At a Max of 5): Zoology Botany Painting Photography Meteorology Fishing Foraging Tracking Mechanics Veterinary Medicine And Longarms (At a 2:1 exchange rate) (All of these skills are useful for Farmers / Rural residents, and none of 'em are "Dangerous" skills for PC's to have at high levels) 3) Culture skills as follows: GEO --> Government Incorporate --> Business Military --> Military Native --> Rural Colonial --> Urban (or Rural) Street --> Street Earth --> American (Usually) 4) Piloting can be changed to Driving. Indeed, in most packages, it SHOULD be. If a package has -both-, add 'em together and make it Driving. ORIGIN PACKAGE NOTES: Lots of packages will require name changes in order to make complete sense -- in the final version. Colonial - Pioneer --> Much tweaking would be required. It's be easier to just drop this one, IMHO. Earth Orbit --> NO. Remove this package. The same goes for Luna and Mars Colony. Native --> Can be tweaked as a "Native American" type package, but it'd be easier to drop it. The same goes for the Hybrid "Reservation" Package. BACKGROUND PACKAGES Space --> Remove this package. Professional Packages: Military: Two of the Expert Packages have Aquatics. In these packages, the Aquatics can not be changed to Any Athletics. The Navy and Marines BOTH practice in the water. Space: In order to do Space packages, you need to have Military Expert (Aerospace) Package. And yes, this does cut down how far you can advance in Space. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
