Whether fully uplifted or just as native pets, they'd be cool. Between the fully sentient player species and 'dumb animals' there's plenty of room for a domesticated, trainable, loyal working help-animal, the 'sheep-dogs' of the sea. Would natives use schoolers in this role (herding fish, retrieving catches, watch-beasts)? Before they were discovered, I'd expect the original explorers would have brought sea-lions with them. (question to any knowledgable list-members - are sea-lions as smart/trainable/domestic as dogs? Just because they look so social and dog-like...) And while sort of on the subject of uplift, will 'Ancient Echoes' cover primative 'phins, whether never-uplifted or the occasional birth-defect where the uplift genes haven't taken? What would the smart phin's response to them be? Andrew ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I had to much fun with one as a scout to see them disappear from the games I run.
