Sure, it's grossly illegal, and there's evidence that's difficult to conceal, but hey, think of the combat abilities of an orca-human hybrid 2.5 meters tall! Maybe start with some wreckage of incorporate mines, followed by a Sierra Nueva cluster village... Violent destruction, but with hints that it wasn't caused by cetaceans, and hints that it was. Let the players chase wild geese for a bit, and then maybe they even run into the hybrid raiding party on its way back to (the hidden and highly plausibly deniable) base. -- (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) May God stand between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk. Obviously, the market for dolphins would be very small to non-existent. The very fact that any dolphin could just cavort with his/her pod makes a dolphin prostitute unlikely, but if there is any kind of inter-species market, that might be where the draw would be for those few (and I would think very few) 'phins who were desperate enough. - Kevin >>*chuckle* Well, not far-fetched from the fact they have a penchant for sex, >>but that very fact might make them less likely to see it as something to >>sell and more like something that's part of day-to-day pod relations. So, really, the only market we could be talking about here would be humans. I have a feeling that a dolphin that sold sex would be considered the lowest of the low by his/her fellow 'phins, even more of a stigma than it is in human culture. - Kevin >Maybe they aren't just hiring themselves out to dolphins. However, I could see a religious or psuedo-religious element being introduced with these beings who represented a unity between the two species, and maybe could be seen to have transcended the limitations of both to become something better or 'whole'. Heck, maybe its not a Incorporate plot at all. Maybe the Aborigines have some mysterious goal in mind by creating them? Just a thought. - Kevin >Kevin C. Carpenter wrote: >> >> Ah, silly me. Would cetacean names evoke the proper imagery? Can they use sonic 'trodes and cetacean technologies? And lastly -- the weirdest one -- If they understand cetacean speech, could they conceivably understand the Whalesong Theogeny? >>>>This actually came up in our own playtesting. The simple answer is no, the echolocation biomod is not sophisticated enough and the human brain does not have the appropriate structures to form/interperate the images. A good analogy would be the comparson of the fish-finder on a bass boat to the sonar suite on a Naval submarine.
