I can't recall the address, or who did it - but somewhere in the mailing list archives you'll find rules for uplifted Sea Lions. I think they're pretty cool. Ok, a friend of mine said that there was "once upon a time" going to be a BP movie. I (thinking of how expensive the Costner flick was) told him that he was full of *crap*. So then he says it was all digitized or anime style, greatly reducing the need for bad actors. PLEASE tell me there is such a thing as it would be really cool. Unfortunately, it would also be really cool if Cindy Crawford agreed to be Jeff's #1 Sweetie Pie, if for no other reason than to get him to hush up about her. I think both things are about as likely. The whole BP movie thing started a _long_ time ago with Jeff and Jim Heivelin and myself sitting around, putting away a few brews and saying "...wouldn't it be cool if." It's turned into a running joke with us, along with the way we're going to decorate the lobby of the Biohazard office tower. I think there's even a series of posts on the list way back when about who different people would cast in the movie. But you're right about one thing, Daque... The "official" take is that the uplifiting therapies used on sealions were only moderate success - they just do not have the same raw potential as cetaceans. The end result is that these uplifted animals have a subhuman intelligence that allows them to understand only a 350-400 word vocabulary and communicate only basic intent to their human counterparts. They do not concentrate well, and are often too absent minded and playful to accomplish demanding mental tasks. They do make adequate aquafarm hands, guide scouts, and security patrols however. Check the list archives on the website for more discussions on uplifted sealions. Hey Daque, A while back Rainbow Studios, a computer animation company, did a cool trailer (sp?) for a movie with the working title of Blue Planet. It was to be a full length CGI film based on the computer game setting "Dark Tide". Last I heard they were looking for backing, and when we contacted them about the title, they assured us that it was only a working one, and that would be changed. The trailer is/was downloadable from their website, and is/was pretty cool ; ). Oh...and by the way...if we ever have news about a BP movie, we will be shouting it from the roof tops, and you all will be the first to hear about it!
