Go to http://www.sciam.com and enter Shkval on the site's search function; it'll pull up several articles on supercavitation including the actual torpedo, its role in the Kursk incident in the Barents Sea and an interesting article that details the mechanics and possible applications of supercavitation. It also goes into undersea munitions and mentions underwater sub-fighters which is of great interest to any Blue Planet reader... CK -----Original Message----- Is that URL right? Any of the Biohazard people know what > programme was used when designing the stuff for the books > because by and large they're the best maps I've seen in an > RPG for a long time. > I know that for the maps Jeff makes he uses Adobe Illustrator. And given that it's a drawing program and not any sort of CAD or mapping program, it takes him a *long* time per map. I don't remember the numbers he gave me off-hand but I *think* it was on the order of 30 or 40 hours per map. I looked at CC2 a while ago and the stuff Jeff does is *much* better looking (IMNSHO) than anything I saw that program produce. And I had a job about six years ago where I used AutoCAD (version 10 then) extensively. And in comparison I seem to recall CC (I seem to recall buying it years ago so I'm guessing I have version 1) being a *much* scaled down cad type program. But then *real* CAD programs take quite a bit of use to get good with. 'Touch not Campaign Cartographer for it is expensive, not as good as the free products out there, and the only good bits are the expensive add ons' However if you dont mind spending the cash you can produce some fair-to-good results with it. A lot of the old hacks will remember the ICE stuff which if not produced with CC certainly looked like it. Oh and CCII copy protection sucks...........however as I happen to belive in copyright (I'm a author) I have not abused that. However us Brit BP'ers (and RPGers) tend to be more 'insearch' as our RPG communitys are smaller, plus the average Brit RPG geek is also a 20-30 something with a fair knowledge of the Internet. As a result we 'punch above our weight' on mailing lists. The Japanese are the odd ones...they tend to lurk on lists but not actualy add much content due to language/cultural issues....but my recent experience has shown when they do contribute it tends to add a whole dimension and there are often a LOT more of them than you might expect. Its true in most systems, there are lot less Brits or Ozzies actualy owning systems or playing them than US/Canadian but we tend to contribute with MOST GM's having a on-line presence of some sort.
