I've spent the last few days sat in front of CNN (yes we get it over here too) and I'm worn out. I can't actually force myself to watch any of this any more. I know that most of us have very strong feelings on the subject but, this is neither the time nor the place to discuss it. I also came here to look for something of an excape from the horror. Please don't take this as a rant or an indicaion that I don't care but can we talk about something else please. I'm looking for something happy to talk about because the default topic of conversation is just too much. Sorry to go on at such lengths. --- Shanhat Get 250 color business cards for FREE! http://businesscards.lycos.com/vp/fastpath/ *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. Any new settlement like that is going to draw some degree of bad element. Organized crime will be interested in getting a toehold. People on the run may see it as a safe haven. You're also going to get people who are desperate for a fresh start, the poor, the homeless, the down on their luck prospectors, farmers whose crops failed, people with nothing to lose by going to a new place and everything to gain. I'd also see entrepreneurs arriving, people who see new markets opening up. Competition for the first business of a type top open in the new area could be fierce, maybe even lethal. Semi-reputable adventurers may also show up, looking for a succesful outfit to associate themselves with, or a smaller pond in which they can be big fish. Technical types in search of a job will no doubt approach the players, as well as the hospital. Some may be independent operators, with their own tools, others may be down on their luck and hopeful. A new town represents hope, opportunity, potential wealth, land, a place to live, order. Think about the kind of people drawn to such things.
