And it's always best to let the players figure out what you're actualy running as you go along. The first BP game I ever played (Deep S***) and the first BP game I ever ran (Trinkets of the Root Cellar) were both horror/SF hybrids. There was a neat-o episode of Space Island One, a British SF series from the late 90s, where the crew discovered an old Chinese space station bought over by a weird space cult a few years back. They board it and find all the inhabitants dead...except for... ...but that would be giving it away. If you don't think your players have seen it (and they probably haven't if they live in the US) I could tell you more by private email... Space Island One, what little I saw of it, was remarkably good for a character-based hard SF TV series. Of course, being a British show, it had the usual British budget, which means that most computers in the future looked a lot like PCs and Macs, and the space station sets all looked exactly the same, and there was very very little external FX work. But it was realistic. It _didn't_ rely on alien-of-the-week for plots (never had _any_ aliens, actually), choosing corporate intrigue and radiation poisoning instead. I saw its premiere 1998 season early this year on Asian cable, but I don't know if it ever made it to a second season. Hmmm ... reminds me of a Shadowrun game some of my friends were in. One of the PCs was mad (well - they were all mad, but she was more obvious): She had 3 personalities - one was nice, cute and bubbly, one was hard, psychopathic and a killing-machine, and the third had a penguin fixation. Seriously. And because she was a techie (I think) they ended up with robotic Surveillance Penguins ... then Attack Penguins, and finally Hi-Ex Penguins. People recommended the Cyberpunk: Near Orbit ("Near Space"?) book for Poseidon: Space I took their advice, and got hold of a copy. I recommend you do too, as it's really good (even if it is just orbital stuff). Might be interesting in "BP-in-Space". I have several of the (really badly formatted) colorized comic book serializations of Halo Jones, as well as the Complete Ballad collection, and I have to say that while it's really good darkly funny SF, it doesn't really have that much to do with BP (except for this: if Biohazard ever wants to hire comics artists, Ian Gibson draws really cool dolphins). Now, Book 3 was more than a little reminiscent of The Forever War with some Alan Moore twists thrown in, but all in all, a very good piece of work. But frankly, of all the 2000AD strips I've seen, Judge Dredd would be most relevant to BP, for the right way to do Marshals. Personally, I've not run a Horror BP game, yet, although my players trip to Keepsake came awfully close. Even now the mere mention of the village terrifies them. (One of the characters actually insists that they have no idea what everyone is talking about, he's never BEEN to a village called Keepsake.... well, he HAS, he just doesn't want to think about it.) Anyhow, there have been a couple space based Cthulhu Scenarios from Chaosium, but I'm afraid I've not run them. One is set in the 1920's and is very 'First Men in the Moon'. This would be the more difficult to adapt, but I could see it being done, substituting one of Poseidon's moons for Earths. It is called "Bad Moon Rising' and is found in Chaosium's Great Old Ones collection, The second is Found in Strange Aeons, and is called 'Blood Moon', and is set in 2015. I have not fully read this scenario as I threw the book across the room with annoyance at one of the other scenarios in it (We hitorians can get Awfully picky with historical scenarios ), but it did look pretty decent and involved a United Nations expedition. Again, I think this could be easily adapted. And, as was mention by someone else, 'Grace Under Pressure' from Pagan Pub., written by our very own Jeff Barber, is an OUTSTANDING adventure set at the bottom of the ocean. I had the good fortune to play in a game of it which crossed over into near Live-Action territory, and I've never forgotten it. If I didn't have one of the GMs from that game in my BP game, I would have adapted it long ago. -Scott Scarlet Jester wrote: > From: Scarlet Jester > To: > Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 1999 9:21 PM > Subject: [BLUE PLANET] - 1st Time on Planet > -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- > My group are about to embark on a new campaign after a lengthy time with > L5R.
