We were supposed to be in civilized settings :P Stupid > me.. ;) Well I got the nickname after it was noticed in our Aberrant games that I wasn't really playing superheroes. At best my characters could be described as sidekicks. It was first noticed when I and another character were trying to figure out how to get over an electrified fence without alerting security. After 45 minutes of discussion and planning, I suddenly noticed a little detail on my character sheet under the "powers" section that said "Flight". It was at this point that we realised we had been playing for 8 weeks and I had yet to use *any* powers. It's not so much in the character stats. It's more in how I play them. We had a one off "Fat Cracklin' Power of the Gods" Aberrant game too where my character was known for three quarters of the session as "that bloke with a camera". They rumbled me when I tried to claim travel expenses for the mission and someone sneaked a peek at my character sheet. The room was shortly followed with the loud complaint: "You can freakin' warp to ALPHA CENTAURI! We're NOT giving you money for a plane ticket!!!" But anyway, I digress.... Actually the main problem I have isn't attracting sufficient players, or even attracting good players. It's managing to find enough of the bastards who can all play on the same day! I put out a notice last year for just a one-off session (intending to use Natural Law) as a taster of the game. I got back about 15 or so replies but I couldn't get more than 2 of them to agree on a specific day they could make it to the game. There's loads of decent gamers round here. Enough that I suspect we're stealing half the country's quota actually. It's just organising things that's the tricky bit. On a somewhat related note, the local games club here in Canterbury is holding a small convention sometime in early November. There's no Blue Planet stuff planned so it's probably a little off topic to post this here, but there seemed enough UK list members that I thought I'd mention it. There's information on the following web site: http://www.geocities.com/UKCagscon/index.html but there's also likely to be space just for people to grab random games from the club library and see if they can round up players for an impromptu game. Anyway, as I say it's probably going to be a fairly low-key, small scale sort of thing but if anyone is interested just let me know. I'm theoretically the treasurer for the club (though nobody seems to want to tell me how to go about my duties. I haven't even figured out how to pay my own membership fee) so I can book tickets and so forth should it be necessary. Sometimes good players attract more good players sometimes they don't. Some of my best games ever have been with only 2 or 3 players though. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. It's also relatively simple to model in paper, theoretically. It also looks like a shoe. However, lots of people like shoes. Naturally, I'd like to hear your opinions. It looks more like an APC, riding lower in the water also helps the look of it. I'll paste one up when you get the model done. It may however be riding a little too low for a hovecraft, can we assume that maybe we are looking at it floating with the fans off? Or am I misreading the sketch? --dave ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Lesack To: Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 6:44 PM Subject: Re: [BLUE PLANET] - Another paper model concept > Hey everyone, > > I finally picked up a pencil and spent 20 min reworking the GEO APC > concept. > > http://www.primusnoir.f2s.com/bob/geoapc2.jpg > (V.1l is here: http://www.primusnoir.f2s.com/bob/geoapc.jpg ) > > It retains some of the aspects of Vietnam era hovercraft, has some of > the trimmings of today's APCs, and has a something of a sleek, > futuristic profile.
