I've just moved house so I will charitably blame the storage. I'm not convinced that hardcovers are the way to go. It does make for a good line presence and style, but I find them harder to handle. More than anything else, however, the additional price is hard to swallow. Here in Ireland I've got to mail order everything from the UK or the US. With the Euro performing like a sloth on sedatives against both the dollar and the sterling pound I'm paying about IRL£24-25 for Fluid Mechanics, or roughly $26. It's not prohibitive, but it's not nice either. So I like the hard covers for their appearance, but I'm not 100% convinced by them for all supplements. Fluid mechanics was almost a bit thin for hard covers. Are the future supplements going to have at least as many pages as FluMech? I've started to rectify the situation. I've made a paper model of a Utility Jumpcraft in 25mm scale, free for download, in glorious colour. That's the jumpcraft from V1, not the flying shoebox from V2. If you've never seen the V1 one, now's your chance. http://members.nbci.com/lesack/vehicle/index.html There's a few Traveller vehicles there as well. With a little imagination, I suppose they could be made to fit into BP. Please let me know your comments. I'd particularly like to know which vehicles you'd like next. Currently, I'm leaning towards a hovercraft APC, probably with GEO markings. A word of warning though. NBCI was XOOM, and their service is erratic, at best. They're free, though. If Stormsurge.org wants to host the PDF, you have my blessing. On general I liked the artwork better than V1. Although I have to agree with someone else from this list that I liked the tech readout look for some of the gear from V1. I like the borders too, makes it easier on the eyes to flip through and read. >What I would like to know is whether or not _all_ supplements are going to >be hardcover like Fluid Mechanics. It ups the price a bit, but then again I >do love hardcover. Like the hardcovers, course then for me the price isn't an issue since I'm only really buying books for this and another game line. As per the page count, I wouldn't mind seeing more, but then again I don't expect Greg and Jeff to be pulling off 300+ page tomes every other month by themselves so I'm happy with what I get. Someone on another mailing list got me interested in the game but I only picked it up when I found it in a half-price bin (course now I'm woefully glade I did!) ================================= For me, Archipeligo is still the best designed book for the BP line (Although the Fluid Mechanics cover is cooler). For what it's worth, here is how I rate the layout, design, and artwork for the five BP books: 1. Archipeligo 2. Fluid Mechanics 3. Blue Planet v.1 4. Player's Guide 5. Moderator's Guide As indicated, I found FM to be a marked improvement over the PG and MG. I have high hopes that Haven will be a great book as well.
