Its easier to explain and make them feel interested in play. In fact, now when a girl that never played RPG say to me she wants to play, we play Blue Planet. It's an easy game to understand and to explain, and there's nothing supernatural in the game, like the medieval ones or the storyteller, that you have to explain legends and stories to get people involved. It's the real world, just in the future. That's what I personally enjoyed in BP and I think most people do: that is something real, true, plausible. ******************************************** *Alexandre Freire Filho *"Nascer é receber *Nick: Tarrask * de presente *fatima@openline.com.br * o mundo todo". *lordtarrask@hotmail.com * Jostein Gaarder *ICQ: 4477330 * *Kindred: Peter Swanson, Malkavian * "Being born is win *Jampa by Night: Carlos Gonçalves, ancillae* as a gift *PBeM Blue Planet: 1st. Chime in ladies! ME!!! 2. How many of you play in BP games with at least one woman? Well, just me. 3. Are there any female BP game moderators on the list, or in your gaming groups? Ya, I GM BP for our gaming group 4. Ladies - what are your impressions of the BP setting? Love the game, especially the level of development that has went into the storyline and world setting. I like the fact that it is geared more towards role playing than many other rpg's, at least it seems that way to me. We first saw this game during a 8 hour layover in Minniapolis, MN during a 3 day bus trip back to Calgary. My husband and I are both avid RPers and we were browsing a gaming store there. From the moment I saw the game and briefly read over general concept of the game, I wanted it. We finally picked it up 6 months later here in Calgary, when we were finally able to get to the gaming store before it sold out again. The only problem I have with the game, and maybe some of you might have suggestions on this, is that I'm relatively new at GMing, in the past having only done medival fantasy themed games, and I often run into problems coming up with campaign ideas. I know every GM goes through this at times. I don't have Archapelago, money's kinda tight and it seems that every time we get the spare cash to go buy it, the gaming store is sold out. I would really like more information about the islands, such as what is contained in the book. Hopefully, I can get it soon, anyway, I'm rambling. :) Keli ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. The purpose of this adventure is to get some new players familliar with some of the social and political aspects and struggles of Poseidon, and to get them more familliar withthe grography and layout of Haven, and its culture and people. An article downloaded on ComCore, from the New Haven Times sparks interest in the PC's to visit the city and attend an upcoming Free Poseidon! rally to take place in one week. Shortly after arriving in Haven, 2 days prior to the rally, the PC's meet an NPC named Roger. Roger works in the warehouse district making a modest living, having no one to support other than himself. He offers to show the PC's around Haven, promising to take them to some of the more interesting sights around the city. Over the next 2 days, Roger does in fact keep his promise, showing them much, and keeping them busy seeing the sights and he quickly befriends the group, and decides to attend the Free Poseidon! rally with them. The rally is crowded, with several hundred people who both believe in and are aginst the Free Poseidon! cause. About 20 minutes into the speeches and presentations by the group, Roger slips off, telling the PC's that he will returnshortly. Moments later, a gunshot is heard and the speaker, one of Free Poseidon!'s top officials is shot and killed. A large uproar follows, and the PC's catch a passing glanc of Roger bgeing hauled away by GEO patrol officers and over the noise of the now nearly chaotic crowd, can be heard his proclaiming his innocence. Later, after things have died down, and the PC's are leaving the rally, they overhear two people inthe shadows talkign about the shooting, stating what a lucky break it was that the GEO hauled away that guy, and now the real killer, and that the night's events have put them one step closer to their goal. The PC's will amost asuradly try to free their new friend Roger, on the basis that he has been wrongfully accused, and their time to do this is limited. Haven news the next morning reports that a swift trial has been planned for 2 days from now, and that the alleged killer of the Free poseidon! official will surly be persecuted and recieve punishment doe to him. It is aparent that the GEO want to quickly put the incident behind them, careing not whether the right man is punished, and the killer goes free, alluding perhaps to the fact that the GEO may have been involved in the death of the official. This gives the PC's 2 days to find out what realy happened and prove Roger's innocence. And that's as far as I have gotten. Sounds like a cool plot. You may consider having GEO Internal Security be the ones that detain their buddy and the ones behind the plot. Instead of uniformed GEO Patrol officers hauling him off, maybe guys in suits quickly take him into custody speeding away in an unmarked vehicle. Advantages: Messing with GEO IS will scare the heck out of players. The GEO is mostly a law-abiding organization, but if the IS is behind this then it will be more feasible for them to be responsible for the shooting. The disadvantage to this approach is that justice isn't so much a factor. If the GEO, in any capacity, are the conspirators then there's no one to bring the bad guys in front of to get justice, since the law is the bad guys. It could, though, play out something like "Strange Days," wherein it's just a few cops. On the other hand, a big surprise might be if Free Poseidon! is behind it somehow. How? I don't know, but they're certainly not the usual suspects. will *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message. Pretty neat; not too complicated, yet pulling enough pieces of Poseidon's society together to make things interesting. It does rely on a bit of coincidence, but then, many scenarios do... "You crash on an isolated island which happens to be the site of an important " comes to mind. Maybe the PCs could meet an interesting cross-section of Roger's acquaintances in their first two days - a dolphin bartender, a native sellout in the poor area of town, an Incorporate wage slave, and so forth, and they can become contacts to help the PCs prove Roger's innocence, providing information to help the PCs understand the politics and factions involved.
