All you've done there, though, is shift the target. Sure, there's no display apparatus -- but you do, of course, have the equipment necessary to interface with the actual brain tissue. I would think that the implant calc would only be used by those who want continuous dedicated access; it would not be that popular with the general public. Hard-core scientists who are running calculations in their sleep and in the shower would find it very attractive. The implant also releases you from being tied down by those pesky jacklink cables. No matter how small and unobtrusive you try to make them, they still catch on things (like riding the subway with a walkman). I imagine this is one of the reasons the GEO Marshall service provides the Marshalls with direct subdermal connectors to their PeaceMakers. Also, it is much harder to lose an implanted device. RE: But once you've done that, then you can also figure out a way to use the brain tissue to handle some of the processing power; at which point, all the comp is really there for is data storage and to facilitate the actual manipulation, which is all done with the existing natural equipment. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.ient.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
