I think about that like this: Earth is far distant from Poseidon and even to the creators, 35 years-light is too much, but it does not mean that they arrived Poseidon or left Earth through another wormholes. I guess that must exist another systems capable of supporting life near our solar system and near Lambda-Serpentis system. As to your questions regarding decontamination methods to prevent cross-contaimination of Poseidon with earth-origin life...it happens. Some plants and animals were brought on purpose with the orriginal Athena Project colonists in order to provide food sources and raw materials for building, etc. On the other hand, everything that goes to Poseidon has to spend at least six months in a fairly well contained environment. It's fairly easy to determine exactly how much mass is onboard a space craft to prevent widespread smuggling, and the shipment of biological materials is pretty tightly controlled. It is possible to control which plants and animals make it down to the surface. People who are planning on going to Poseidon go through rigorous medical treatment and exams, and this, plus their six months in hibernation on the trip allow for the elimination of any undesirable organisms. "Squid" are subject to certain depth restrictions like all marine animals. There's also the need for sunlight for things like vitamin D production (if it's not otherwise supplemented). However, if you're really into it, there really isn't a need for a full aquaform to ever come up. Although eating would probably be interesting. And Ghu only knows what it would do to your social life. As for cetaceans comming on land, they don't. Look at the description of the architecture of the Church of the Whalesong Theogony in Haven. The building is underwater for a substantial portion of its height. CICADAS and their associated hover drones are really the only method for cetaceans to interact in a terrestrial environment. I'm playing a bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops Sapiens) in our current campaign, and having to deal with the limitations of the hover remote are a pain, but they also provide significant opportunity for role-playing hooks. As far as integration of architecture with the water, it certainly depends on where you are. I'm sure that some of the hillside shacks in Haven's less-reputable environments have little to do with the water. However, it's a poorly-built shack on Nomad that doesn't have an underwater bolt-hole. As on Earth, needs dictate structure. Good questions, though. Keep 'em comming. It keeps us honest. -Jason Werner Biohazard Games *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe blue_planet' as the body of the message.
