Simon
Simon is an enigma. Literally plucked unconscious from the waters of New Fremantle Bay by
Andrew, Simon remembered nothing since entering a cold sleep capsule in Earth orbit over a
year and a half ago. He does remember most of his life prior to leaving Earth, but the nature
and specificity of the missing pieces has him worried. He remembers the kind of work he once
did, and knows those in his occupation seldom 'retire'. He knows he worked for one of the big
boys, an Incorporate, but can not remember which one. He knows he is probably in way over his
head, but until he can at least remember his last name he figures he should keep a low profile
and continue to help out around Red Sky.
Patterner
Dolphins often form inexplicable attachments to particular groups of humans, and for unfathomable
reasons, sometime adopt them as family. Patterner appears to have 'adopted' the humans at Red Sky,
and often accompanies them on charters. Endlessly fascinated with what he considers the human
condition, Patterner studies, questions and instigates, as much as he actually helps out around
Red Sky.
Patterner is also a bit of a mystery. He always seems to have access to the latest in cetacean technologies, though he refuses even the minimal pay offered for his work at Red Sky. In reality, Patterner is an upper level exec with the Cetacean owned Hydrospan corporation, and uses his excursions with Red Sky as recreation. He also sees them as opportunities to learn more about human behavior in hopes of improving is understanding of the rarefied, and overwhelmingly human, world of the Incorporate.
Bora Kerran
Bora is a Poseidon native and often works for Red Sky as a guide. To most that know him now,
Bora is a quiet, gentle man, with a small family to which he is lovingly devoted. However, Bora
is also a man of old secrets. Years ago, his parents were killed and his little sister went
missing after a GenDiver security team 'swept' his village for "terrorist insurgents." Joining
various underground groups Bora waged a personal war of vengeance against the Incorporate
sabotaging, raiding, and even killing all the while searching for his missing sister. Now,
tired of the violence, Bora has settled down, and dedicated himself to his new family. He
remains vigilant however, for word of his missing sister, for even as the years pass, he is
unable to give up hope.
Ethan Merriweather
Known affectionately as "Chaka" around Red Sky, Ethan is a GEO sponsored warden, and a Sylvan
hybrid. Like most of his kind, Ethan served in the Peacekeeper forces, but never really felt
accepted on Earth. While posted on Poseidon, he discovered that the colony's frontier society
cared more about ability than genetic code, and so decided to stay.
After mustering out, Ethan lucked into a partnership with the now legendary frontiersman, 'Fishbone' Smith. Since learning the trade from the best, Ethan has became a well known warden himself his cultural hatred of injustice and his Peacekeeper training also having served him well. Ethan was close friends with Carl and Etta, and so now, when not on a case, Ethan helps out around Red Sky. At first it was only out of dedication to Carl, but increasingly it is out of a growing affection for the company's current staff.
Carl Latimer
Former owner and operator of Red Sky Charters, Carl was lost at sea four years ago while on a
job.
Etta "Ma Etta" Jones
Etta is a 56 year old native diver, and the late Carl's common-law wife. She is also a matron of
the local native community, and has one of those deeply caring and genuine personalities that
glues together the people around her. Etta is loved and respected by everyone that knows her,
and her Tidewater Grill often seems more a community center than a fish pub.
Bethany "Bethy" Jones
Nine year old Bethy is the daughter of Etta and Charles, and of course is everyone's "little
sister". (Yes - she is innocent and spunky and as cute as a dart-fin larva - all those things
that make little girl NPCs such good plot devices.)
Philip Jones
Philip is Etta's 24 year old son from a previous relationship. When not off 'participating in
patriotic activities', Philip helps out both at Red Sky and the Grill. Philip is becoming
increasingly secretive about his off-time however, and both Etta and Andrew (and especially
Bora) are afraid he may be getting in over his head.
'Digger' Jones
Digger is Etta's younger brother and a mechanical wizard. Digger runs the hydrogen depot and a
small mechanics shop at Red Sky. Digger is 44 years old and stutters badly when talking to
anyone but himself which he tends to do a lot. Digger is surly, and grim, but anyone who gets
past the surface finds that he is a hard working, salt-of-of-the-earth sort, sincerely devoted
to his friends, his family and to Red Sky.
