The "Last Chance"

The Last Chance is the aptly named workhorse hydrofoil of Red Sky Charters. The boat is old, and saw hard use even before Carl Latimer bought it and founded Red Sky. Even Carl didn't know whether the boat was built on Poseidon, or shipped there in the early days of Recontact.

The twenty one meter vessel is made almost entirely of industrial plastic, and the boat has had countless repairs, refittings, and modifications. The motors have been replaced several times, and the fickle fuel cell is an antique. The hull plastic was originally dyed a rich red but has since faded to an ugly, mottled pink. Numerous hull repairs have left the boat a mess of plastic patchwork and the craft is covered with dings, dents and worn fittings.

Even Andrew admits Last Chance is an ugly boat, but she still has solid lines, and for all her age and appearance she is truly a seaworthy vessel. Digger keeps her in good shape, and the rest of the employees at Red Sky do their best to help. They have no choice, depending on the boat to keep the company afloat...literally.
